Life is Good

It's just another Thursday night. It's funny how you can make an average evening memorable just by taking pictures. I've come to love our camera...it was a Christmas present in '08 I believe, and I love it. I was off work today by 2:30 and home by 3 after a quick trip to the store to get some more dentastix for Tux and a new book. I'm not much of a reader, but now that things are slowing down, the idea of laying outside and reading a book after work is appealing.

So, after getting home, I changed into a tank top and laid out to read for a bit. I didn't get very far...I think I read about 5 pages before drifting off to sleep. Oh well. Tux wanted desperately to lay out with me, but it was a high of 96 today and he just couldn't take the heat for too long. It's funny...I think I've captured just as many pictures of Tux with his eyes closed as open...

I've been trying to get back into my walking routine recently, I've gone out everyday this week for at least a half hour walk if not more. Yesterday I was talking to my mom and ended up walking for almost an hour! It's paid off, I've managed to shed a few pounds over the last couple weeks and I'm happy with that.

After my walk, we grilled up a turkey tenderloin and some veggies. Jimmy was craving some mac and cheese, so I whipped some of that up...it took some self control, but I only had a couple bites. Trying to cut down on the carbs, ya know.

Before dinner I cut some roses from our bushes that just keep blooming, I like them soooo much better than the bushes that were there. Since we've been in the house for a year, I keep meaning to post some before and after pictures. I'll get to that post one of these days, so everyone can see some of the hard work that my dad put into making our house a home!

Since the weather is heating up, I'm trying so hard to just rely on the fans in our house instead of the air conditioning...I'm not doing so well. I don't think our air conditioner is that efficient just because we have it set over 80 degrees and it seems to come on when I feel like it's perfectly comfortable in the house. Anyways, that's not her nor there...but we have a fan in every bedroom and the living room, so I keep those on, plus a fan blowing into the kitchen area. This month will be the first big electric bill since September or October, needless to say, I'm dreading it!

And finally, Jimmy snapped a couple pictures of me while we were outside grilling...I must say, he didn't do a bad job, despite my funny face....
