Birthday and Smiles

As I type, I am waiting on laundry to dry and Carson is napping, so I thought I would post a quick update for the week.

Yesterday was Jimmy's birthday! We enjoyed a fun evening at home, Jimmy grilled ribs (thanks to my dad for showing him the technique), and I had made him a cake earlier in the day. Now, I can't remember the last time....if EVER that I have iced and decorated a cake. I thought it sounded like a fun and thoughtful idea. Who doesn't like a decorated cake?! Well, let me tell you...it was a joke. It's not as easy as it looks! It looked like a 3rd grader did it, but Jimmy loved it (i think it made him feel like a kid again) and it was fun to do that for him. I better work on my skills before Carson is old enough to have friends over for birthday parties, otherwise I will be totally ashamed.

I find that since I am the one that takes almost all of our pictures, I hardly have any with me and Carson, but I had him smiling and giggling so much the other day Jimmy was inclined to grab the camera and snap a picture. Cutey patutie!

Carson and I are leaving for Indiana tomorrow to visit the family. We will be heading to Alabama over the weekend for my cousin Heather's wedding. The last one of the kids in the family to get married! I'm excited for Carson to meet his Kentucky family, it should be a blast.

Well, I'm off to fold laundry and start packing while CJ is napping!
