All for the sake of wine...

Sometimes a glass of wine just tastes good. I stopped by the store on my way home from work and, having the day off tomorrow, greatly looked forward to just relaxing whilst sipping a glass of red wine. Finding a bottle of Pinot Noir, my favorite, on sale for half off at Albertson's, I thought it was meant to be. Having worked a full day, playing golf, rewarding Tux with a spur-of-the-moment trip to the dog park and fixing dinner (leftovers), I settled in for my treat...a glass of wine. Not so fast.......I loaned our corkscrew to our neighbors 2 days ago. Realizing that and the fact that it was too late (in my opinion) to kindly ask for it back, I resorted to Google. After promptly googling "how to open a bottle of wine without a corkscrew" this is what ensued.....

The Internet failed me this time, but through persistence...and needle nose pliers, I have my glass of wine. Seriously, I tried what the Internet said: 1) get a screw 2) screw it in the cork 3) gently pull it out with the back of a hammer or pliers. Ummm..not so much. Don't try it.
Anyways, as I was settling in with my glass, I hear Jimmy yelling my name from the back patio. His club was setting off a huge fireworks display for a tournament they were having and we could see it through the trees from our backyard. I grabbed the camera and tried to get a few shots of fireworks. Sure wish I new more about taking pictures, I'm sure they could have turned out much better, but this is what I got:

And, of course, Tuxedo was watching the fireworks too.....

Off to bed and looking forward to not setting an alarm tomorrow!

  2. That's what Jimmy said! He's like "you must really want this wine.." Once I started, it became my mission, haha!

  3. This made me laugh out loud! We've been known to shred a cork INTO the wine, then strain the cork out. :) Way to show perseverance,Crystal! Hope that glass was worth all the trouble. :) And sweet fireworks show! You guys must live pretty close to Jimmy's club. anyhoo...hope you had a good day off too. love ya!
